Vision of the School
The school of physical and material sciences envisions setting up state of the art inter-
disciplinary research and development centres that are able to design, synthesize, analyse
and prototype new devices and materials that would enhance innovation and promote
excellence to propel India into a developed nation.
Mission
The school will inspire students to be creative and self-reliant researchers who can ensure
scientific progress and development of the Nation.
Objectives
- To set up Departments of Physics and Astronomical Sciences to understand the
origin and working of the universe
- To set up Department of Chemistry and Chemical Sciences to synthesize various
types of materials
- To set up Centers of Excellence in material science to usher in nano-technology
products suitable for India
- To undertake inter-disciplinary research to provide comprehensive understanding
and growth of new solutions to cater to both local and global welfare.
- To create Centers of Excellence in energy and materials to create new green
technologies for the sustenance of human kind in tune with the environmental
concerns
Research Activities
The school proposes to begin its research work in two areas:
- Science Education Research: An interdisciplinary research association/interaction
with the School of Education.
- Computer Simulations in Nano-science materials
National level Conferences/Workshops/Seminars will be conducted in these areas to
enhance the awareness of both the research scholars and the students in these fields.
The school will procure Journals and Books (other than e-material available on the internet
for which access needs to be obtained) which would serve as literature for research and
project work. An in-house library would be developed for the purpose.
